The Point Leo Swim Classic is one of the
Premier events on the Open Water Swim calendar. It
is held annually on Boxing Day over a
distance of 1200 metres.
Point Leo Surf Life Saving Club is pleased to announce that the John Marshall Memorial Surf Race will again be held this year. Entry is by invitation only with the field limited to 32 Male and 32 Female swimmers. There will be cash prizes on offer of $300 for the winner, $150 for second and $50 for third in both the male and female categories.
The length of the Point Leo Swim Classic has returned to 1200 metres. There will be one leg in the swim that will be up to 600 metres long, dependng on the conditions on the day. In all female and male categories of the Swim Classic the winners will receive a commemorative trophy and place getters will receive a medallion. Presentations will be made on the beach immediately following the finish of each swim category. For the first time the Swim Classic swimmers will be timed using electronic timing provided by Sports Timing Pty Ltd. Our event 2XU Elite Performance t-shirts will be handed out to competitors before the swim.
The 1200 metre Swim Classic will commence at 2.00pm. Race waves will commence at 20 minute intervals. Entry registration opens at 10.00am and closes at 1.30pm. The race brief will be held on the beach at 1.45pm. The Junior and Novice swims will be held at 12 noon with race brief at 11.45am. The 4km Beach Fun Run will commence at 1.00pm with the race brief at 12.45pm. Entries to the Junior and Novice swims and the Beach Fun Run will only be accepted on Race Day. Online entry is only available for the Swim Classic.

those swimmers who have trained for the event
should enter and we do recommend that you wear a
wetsuit.
RACE RULES & REGULATIONS
1.
Swimmers may use any stroke to propel themselves
and may tread water or float.
2.
In
an emergency a swimmer will raise an arm
overhead & call for or seek assistance. Once
official assistance is rendered, the swimmer
must retire from the race.
3.
A
swimmer must wear the approved swim cap.
4.
Goggles must be worn.
5.
Standing on the bottom shall not disqualify a
swimmer.
6.
A
swimmer shall not wear artificial propulsion
devices of any kind including, but not limited
to, fins, paddles, floatation devices or
buoyancy suits of any kind. Wet suits are
allowed.
7.
The
referees decision is final.
8. Loss of the race timing tag will incur a replacement fee of $80.
