Junior Swim - 400m (10 -13 year olds) @ 12 noon

Boxing Day 2007

The Point Leo Swim Classic is one of the Premier events on the Open Water Swim calendar.  It is held annually on Boxing Day over a distance of 1000 metres.

The Point Leo Surf Life Saving Club is pleased to announce that there are to be a couple of significant changes to the swim format this year that will enhance the quality of the event and improve the competitor’s involvement and enjoyment on the day.

The length of the swim has been reduced from 1200 to 1000 metres and there will be one leg in the swim that will be up to 600 metres long, depending on the conditions on the day. The traditional John Marshall Surf Race will not be held and the Open Female and the Open Male swim will be the feature events with cash prizes on offer of $300 for the winner, $150 for second and $50 for third in each. In all female and male categories winners will receive a commemorative trophy and placegetters will receive a medallion. Presentations will be made on the beach immediately following the finish of each swim category.

The 1000 metre Swim Classic will commence at 2.00pm. Early registrations of $35 can be made online at www.registernow.com.au using a credit card for payment. Alternately entry forms can be posted to Point Leo SLSC, 3 Coimadai Court, Mornington, 3931 with a cheque for $35 payable to Point Leo SLSC by 19th December 2007. On the day entry registrations will cost $40 and close at 1.30pm on race day. The race brief will be held on the beach at 1.45pm.

This year there will also be a Junior 400 metre swim for 10 to 13 year olds held at 12 noon. The cost of this swim is $10. Early registrations for this event can be made online at www.registernow.com.au using a credit card for payment. Alternately entry forms can be posted to Point Leo SLSC, 3 Coimadai Court, Mornington, 3931 with a cheque for $10 payable to Point Leo SLSC by 19th December 2007. On the day entries close at 11.45am on race day.  Participants in the Junior swim do not receive a T-Shirt.

Our event 2XU Elite Performance t-shirts will be handed out to competitors in the 1000 metre Point Leo Swim Classic before the swim. Prepaid entries are guaranteed to receive their t-shirts on the day of the swim. If our supply of t-shirts run out on the day competitors will be able to order a t-shirt which will be delivered by mail at a later date.
